When Moisture Drifts, Your Ration Shouldn't: Meet Ration Rebalance

The silage that tested 35% dry matter last fall isn't 35% anymore. As feeds sit, moisture moves — and a ration you built months ago slowly stops delivering the dry matter mix you designed. Reworking every percentage by hand is the kind of math nobody wants to do at 5 a.m.

Ration Rebalance does it for you.

    How to launch it?

    1. Go to Feed → Rations.
    2. Click a ration to select it.
    3. Hit Rebalance in the toolbar.

    How it works

Every time you build or edit a ration, FLS quietly snapshots each component's dry matter — call it the baseline. Rebalance compares each component's dry matter today against that baseline.

    • Components that haven't moved stay put.
    • Components that drifted get recalculated. FLS holds each one's dry matter amount steady and works backward to a new as-fed percentage, then normalizes the whole ration back to 100%.

Translation: the same actual feed on a dry basis, corrected for today's moisture. Your cattle get what you intended — not what the calendar turned it into.

The page shows you everything before you save:

    • A summary up top — Dry Matter, Price, and Cost, side by side as Current vs. New vs. Change. You see the impact on the pen and on the wallet at a glance.
    • A component table below. Every row shows the old and new percentage and dry matter. Rows that actually changed are highlighted, so you can spot exactly what moved.
