Entering a cattle move-in is important, but tabbing through boxes you never use can take extra time.
If you process a lot of move-ins, you already know the rhythm: type a value, press Tab, type the next one, repeat. The problem is the form has more fields than most operators actually fill in — so a lot of those Tabs land on boxes you skip every single time.
That is why we brought back a familiar tool from our older desktop app: Tab Stop Settings — now in FLS Cloud.
The standard Tab key visits every editable field on the Cattle Move-In screen, in order. That works for new users, but it slows experienced operators down. Over ten move-ins, those extra keystrokes add up.
Tab Stop Settings lets you decide which boxes the cursor stops on, so the keyboard takes you straight from one value you care about to the next.
Tab Stop Settings is a small dialog you open from the Cattle Move-In screen. It has three things you can change:
Changes save instantly and apply to both the Add Move-In and Edit Move-In screens. The settings are saved at the feedlot level, so everyone on your team gets the same layout.
On either the Add Move-In or Edit Move-In screen, scroll to the bottom of the form. You will see a small gear button sitting between Cancel and Save. Click it.
The Box Selection list shows every editable field on the form, in two columns. Every box is checked by default, which keeps the behavior identical to today.
Uncheck the fields you want to skip. Common picks: Avg. Gross Weight, Avg. Net Weight, Comment, Check Number, Movement Sheet #, and Invoice Number. The Date and Head fields always stay as tab stops — you can’t turn those off.
Under Other Options, check “Change the background color of selected boxes to light yellow.” Every field you kept as a tab stop will get a pale yellow background, and the ones you unchecked stay white. New operators pick it up in a single shift — yellow boxes are the ones to fill in.
Check “Set the Enter key to function as the Tab key.” With this on, pressing Enter in any numeric or text field jumps you to the next tab stop — useful because Enter is closer to the number pad than Tab is. The Comments box still accepts a real Enter for newlines, so this doesn’t get in the way of writing notes.
Changes take effect immediately. No page refresh needed.
Try this combination first: turn off the “average” weights, turn on the yellow highlight, and turn on Enter-as-Tab. That’s the closest match to how most power users worked in the old desktop app, and it’s a good baseline to tune from.
